Political Activity
1966–1970
Resigned government service to join the Socialist Party; became District General Secretary; led the Chandigarh movement; jailed in Hisar for political activism.
1971–1980
Arrested during Kisan and backward-classes movements; secretary of Bharatiya Lok Dal (1975); delegate at Janata Party's formation (1977); returned to Lok Dal (1979); contested Hisar Lok Sabha as an independent (1980).
1981–1985
Active in Lok Dal, focused on organizational work; trained cadres across 46 constituencies for Chaudhary Devi Lal's justice movement, working full-time on it from 1985.
1986–1990
Elected MLA from Jind (1987); took oath as cabinet minister; senior vice president, Haryana Lok Dal; organized backward classes; arrested during the anti-reservation agitation (1989).
1991–1995
Contested the Hisar parliamentary seat on a Janata Dal ticket; served as Janata Dal Haryana general secretary; joined Congress (1993); chaired the Jind district Congress inquiry committee.
1995–1996
Resigned from the backward classes commission over an anti-backward-class order (July 1995); joined Indira Congress; led a major Jind rally; contested the Jind assembly seat (1996); became physically disabled and turned to writing.
